We’re already almost halfway through the New Year…..
How many of you have completely thrown away January resolutions and opted to start in 2024? lol.
I’m happy to say, so far, I’m maintaining!
It’s been years since I fed into the “New Year New Me” wave every year, and even longer since Ive made resolutions. Instead, I try to create goals that I know I can progressively attain and maintain. Here’s a few of the things I’ve stayed committed to this year:
Better Spiritual Connection: I promised myself I would do a better job of talking to Big G (God, for those of you who didn’t catch it). I’ve been consistently going to church, reading my Bible and even started writing some words of wisdom down to keep close to me. There are days that I feel more connected to God than I’ve felt in years. I’m hoping to continue this good feeling!
Keep Up with my Fitness/Nutrition: This feature of life is always a toss up; lol, but I’ve been doing pretty well. I’ve been leaning into more fitness and lifestyle minded community groups and learned a lot about what I put in my body, how I work my body and how and when to rest. I’ve learned to not beat myself up if I need to take a week off of the gym because school is getting intense because I know there are ways for me to supplement moving on a regular basis.
Be More Financially Responsible: I never profess to be perfect. I eat out way more than I should. I have a credit card and I don’t always use it wisely. I’m human, and crap happens. One thing I told myself this year was I was going to do better with saving money again and spending more responsibly. I want to teach my daughter better money habits, and in order for me to do that, she needs to see me doing better. So I vowed that I would start making more sound decisions with what I need vs. what I want and choosing the right time and opportunity to splurge on myself. So far, it’s going. Definitely an uphill battle but we’re making it!
Stay in School: This seems like an odd goal, but considering I haven’t posted a blog in a year tells you how intense becoming a doctor can be. It’s had its challenges, but for a full-time worker and mother, a 3.4 GPA ain’t half bad, lol. So the goal is to keep trucking. I’m now halfway through my coursework, and by this time in about two years, I will be considered a Doctor of Public Policy.
Needless to say, the goals are still the goals, and I’ve still got right around 6 months to be a different Whit then I came into 2023 as.
How about you? How’s your year going? Any shifts that need to be made? Any room for growth? Or are you coming along in a pretty good space? Let me know!!
