The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: May 2017, A Review.

May. Was. Shit.

I apologize in advance for my foul language in this post, but it is what it is.  Sometimes we have bad months, and May was mine.  Let’s talk about it, shall we?

Friday Night Wine: Pacific Rim Sweet Riesling

Since last month’s wine choice was a red wine (which is my favorite, if anyone ever asks you that trivia question), this past Friday, I chose a white wine.  I decided to step outside of my usual white wine box and go with a Riesling, since it is not one that I usually would pick up when I am choosing a white for the evening.  So, last week’s choice was Pacific Rim Sweet Riesling (2014).

Whenever I’m drinking white wine, I prefer it to be on the sweeter end of the spectrum, and this was perfect for me.  The flavor palette is described to give you “aromas of honeysuckle and flavors of pear, pineapple and lemon custard.”  When I first tasted it, it was giving me crisp cider-type vibes, but overall it was very light and refreshing.  It wasn’t too strong or too sweet, pretty well-balanced as far as the taste goes.  I wish I had dessert along with it, but it’s also not a bad wine to have after a long week and you’re ready to wind down and head into the weekend.  If you’re looking for a light wine that’s rich in bold flavors, I would pick up this one; Pacific Rim will not disappoint.

Friday Night Wine: Dominant Seven

I’ve decided to start photographing and documenting my journey to becoming a wine aficionado.  I figured since I’m almost 30, I need to expand my horizon on the win tip.  So, I’m going to commit to trying out a new wine every Friday night, and giving y’all the real deal on it.
To start the first Friday of the new year, I picked up this bottle of 2014 California Cabernet Sauvignon called Dominant Seven.

I will admit that labels are a big factor in how I choose wine.  If the label looks lame, it might be a lame wine (I know it’s petty, but I’m working on it).  Anywho, I read the back label, which mentioned a “rich and robust” taste, with “deep black cherry and berry flavors with notes of mocha”…Mocha?! Yes, mocha 😋!

So, I popped the cork on this beauty, and I must say, I liked it!  It’s definitely not as bold and strong as most Cabernets I drink, but I did enjoy it!  This particular wine had a very good balance and was just enough to feel pretty good on a low key Friday night.  It was very smooth and flavorful, which is a big plus for me.  Plus, I could taste the mocha peaking in like “heeeeeey” lol.

Overall, if you’re a red wine fan and like Cabernet, or if you’re wanting to get into red wines and want something that’s not going to put you all the way on your butt the first time, you may want to give this one a try, because it’s definitely a good tasting wine.

Coloring Book

So…I just recently gave Chance the Rapper a listen..(definitely behind the wave, but don’t crucify me ladies and gents lol).  I’ll admit, I haven’t really listened to Chance the Rapper before, so I will say I’m behind the game on him, but with all the good things I’ve heard so far, I finally decided to take some time out and listen to his latest project, Coloring Book.
