This past week, and in the past few weeks, there has been a lot of heavy revelations that have come to us through social media. Some of us have seen video footage of police brutality (and for those who have chosen to not watch, I understand), physical assault, frightening confrontation between protestors and law enforcement, businesses and celebrities showing their true sides and all out racism. For those who have been heavily in tune with the events and the news, it can be exhausting for someone to digest on a daily basis. I can admit that I’ve had more than one gloomy day during this pandemic, and especially throughout these last two weeks.
One thing I have found that is a relief is spending time with my family. I have found that me taking time to enjoy my family; laughing, talking, hugging one another. Showing and giving love to family and loved ones is a huge way to stay sane in times like we are going through right now.
With the world semi-open, Brandon and I were able to take Kynn to the park, and we’ve gone fishing. We’ve also been able to take walks downtown and look at some of the murals that were painted there, and we even recently took a trip to the mountains for some fresh air. She really enjoyed it and despite my sometimes gloomy moods, it lifted my spirits a bit, too. I’ve been able to take some great pictures, laugh, play, and even capture that with my daughter and husband as well. It was much needed for us to be able to get out and do some things as a family, and as the world continues to reopen, I’m hoping we will keep finding ways to keep the spirits up as we all adjust to a “new normal” way of life. I’m hoping that all of you are finding ways to stay happy and keep your spirits uplifted as well.
What we tend to forget is that our children are also struggling with this pandemic and the state of our nation. We all need a little relief and reprieve. Make sure your family unit is still able to find happiness within one another more than anything, and I’m sure you will be able to find a happy place!
