Saw this video done by BuzzFeed that we shared on my Facebook and I wanted to make my own “I’m Black, but I’m not…” statement:

I’m Black, but I’m not…..

Ashamed of my skin.

Or

From the projects.
In poverty.
On food stamps.
A weed smoker because I have dreads.
Afraid of my “pro-blackness”.
A bitch because I don’t respond to ignorance.
Different or weird or any less Black because I don’t act the way you “thought” all Black women act.
Expecting a “hand out”.
Ignorant and uneducated.
But most of all, I’m Black, but I’m not a novelty for you to exploit for your personal gain.
