Good morning and welcome back to another Sunday recommendation for your self-care!! today I want to discuss an idea that we should all attempt to do more of; social media detoxing! Even I need to try this one myself.
Now when I talk about driving, I don’t mean deleting friends who are either negative or serve no purpose; despite how therapeutic that is (but more on that in a different post, lol), but more so how much time you spend scrolling through Twitter, Facebook, IG, Snapchat, and any other sites that allow you to use major time in front of your screen.
This week, I want you to consider taking some significant screen time away so that you can focus on taking care of yourself. Personally, I’m convinced I’ve fried pieces of my brain by staring into this phone for hours, and I’ve told myself I really have to take some time away from it. My method will start around bedtime.
I’m going to try and make a promise to myself that after 9pm, I’m going to not look at any social media for the night. I’m going to use that time to rest, meditate, journal, read or something that will allow me to stay away from the phone until I fall asleep. As a millenial, I’m sure this will prove to be difficult, but I’m going to try it; at least for this week.
So, I challenge you to find a period of time in your day where you can take even an hour off of your screen time. Whether it be first thing in the morning, your lunch break, after work or before bed. Take some time for yourself, and gradually begin to increase that time away from your phone and start filling it with more things that will make you feel better!
