I know it has been almost 2 weeks since it occurred, but the fact that I’m coming back to talk about it tells you that it was that impactful.

On May 9, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott completes the #Verzuz battle that we all need; and it honestly wasn’t even a battle.

In case you’ve been away from IG all this time, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz started this battle called #Verzuz, which basically takes two artists and lets them battle hit for hit on IG live. It’s honestly like a free concert, and something for a lot of people to look forward to since we all can’t go outside like we want to.

So, Erykah and Jilly had their moment to shine on the IG stage, and they did not disappoint. First, let’s start with the positive vibes that came through the entire live. It wasn’t really a battle, but more like two women vibing our to each other’s best songs and uplifting one another.

As I listened to the #Verzuz, I immediately felt this positive energy. I think it was more than just a “battle” for those watching (and I use battle loosely because they really weren’t competing like that). the energies involved and listening to all the songs had more than a few of us swaying, sipping our good wine and burning some sage to cleanse the environment.

I will say it was probably the best 3-4 hours I’ve spent on the internet. I heard songs that made me reminisce on the first time I heard them, ones that brought back positive and even some sad memories, and ones that will go down in history as great songs. I sang my heart out that night, and once it was over, I didn’t want it to end.

I think everyone can appreciate seeing our favorite artists come together to bring us the music we know and fell in love with. Especially now, it’s like a concert you don’t have to get dressed up for; and if you want to, #Verzuz serves as a pretty chill and cool date night option (in my opinion). Just get dressed, grab a drink and have a party!

I can’t wait for the next #Verzuz battle. I’m hoping to see more feminine energy step up, because the type of love and encouragement we give one another is something we could all be a witness to right now.
