Am I a giver or a taker?
I am definitely more of a giver than a taker. In most instances, I give entirely too much, rather than taking what I deserve.
I think I’m most cases, we tend to find ourselves giving more than taking. We don’t want to appear selfish, so we give and give and give; without asking for anything in return, or taking anything when offered to us. When we are due a reward or compensation for our giving or good deeds, we decline them or say they are unnecessary because that’s just who we are; we do things out of the kindness of our heart, and never really for any type of compensation or value.
I think the theory behind this, is when you’re giving your time and effort to something for good, you don’t want it to seem like you always want something out of it. You want people to know that you genuinely care, and you don’t always need the validation of taking something from someone as a result of giving your time and attention to a specific person or thing.
I know that I look at this as a gift and a curse. Being a giver of your generosity is definitely a gift,m; however, giving too much can also be a curse. You have to be careful not to give too much, or else you may begin to be taken advantage of. Sometimes, you also have to take the rewards and acknowledgement you deserve when it is offered, because in certain instances it is very hard to come by.
