#ConfessionsOfALocdGoddess: Hair Updates and Such!

I haven’t given you guys an update on these locs in a while, so I decided to let you all know what’s been going on!

Color: I colored my locs! This was the day after I colored them on my way to work!

I was going for a deep red/burgundy/copper type color….I think it turned out pretty well.  this was about a couple months ago, so of course my color is fading a bit and these roots are turning black again.  I have been thinking about re-coloring it in the new year, so we shall see what happens!

Style: I got my first style done in November!

My face is weird, but I loved it! (Shoutout to Tieranie, the only other person I trust with my hair!).  I wanted to do something to it, because this was the first time in almost 2 years that I had gotten a legit style done (aside from the times I have tried and failed to style my own).  I will probably have my stylist do another style for me in another month or so; but truthfully, I love letting my locs hang and be free! I’m really torn and don’t know what to do! Lol.

Observations: I’ve been looking at my hair and I can tell that FINALLY, the little bit of fuzziness I did have, is started to fade away.  I can feel my locs getting tighter and more “locked” up in a sense.  I can tell we are moving out of the teenager stage and more into the look of mature locs.

I have been feeling so much more confidence in myself and my hair, and I feel like it truly was the best decision I could have made for my hair.  I have gotten SEVERAL positive comments on my hair and how much people love my locs! When I look back, I don’t think I will ever regret the decision to loc up.  I think for my hair texture, I wouldn’t have gotten the desired look I wanted with my hair, so I think loc’ing will help me be happy with my natural hair.  So far, so good!

So, What’s next?

Hmmm, what’s next for my hair?  I have been toying around with mixing my own loc oil that I use specifically on my scalp, to help with growth and keeping my scalp clean and not having so much build up.  I know I want the base to be JBCO, something I consider a staple now with my hair because of the positive benefits I have had with it.  I also like Tea Tree, Olive Oil and Jojoba oil.  Right now I am finding the right mixture and consistency, and possibly one more oil for scent purposes.  Now, what will I do with this oil? I have no idea.  My stylist said that me and my mom should really make products, because of all the experimenting we do with shea butter, oils, flaxseeds and all.  Who knows?  Maybe that will be my next venture in life! Loc products!! I’ll put it in the air and hope God hears me.  If it’s meant to be, I know He will make a way for me to see the path to that success!

Well, that’s about all I have for now! I hope if you’re on a loc journey things are going well, and if you are in the beginning stages, keep pushing! The light is at the end of the tunnel and you will so happy you went through this stage!

-Peace 🙂
