#50Day50Questions: The Proactive Procrastinator.

Do I get things done or do I procrastinate or even give up?

I do a horrible combination of both. I can be very proactive and procrastinating sometimes.  I can look at a task and already begin to devise a plan on how I want to wait until the last minute to put it off, LOL.  It’s a sad thing, but I am being vulnerable and spilling my truth here, so bear with me.

I am not proud of it, but I think this is something we all do without even  realizing it.  When we are looking at a task or a goal that needs to be accomplished, we are automatically wrapping our minds around whether or not we are going to put a plan in place on how to immediately get that task done, or how to put it off until a specific date and time to get it done.  We as a people are wired to be proactive, act or procrastinate.  I tend to do a little bit of all three, depending on what mood I’m in.  I will admit that I procrastinate more often than i’m proud to admit.  It’s one thing that I told myself I would have to get better at in my life.  Procrastination is nothing more than self-sabotage at the end of the day, and no one deserves to do that to themselves.

I can say with confidence that I won’t do is ever give up.  I never give up on something that needs to get done in life.  If something needs to be accomplished, I may procrastinate about it, but it will always get done.  I strive to never give up on things because quitting is something that is not in my  nature to do.  So I may be slow to start, and I may drag my feet a bit, but I definitely always accomplish the things set out in front of me.

Self-Care Sunday Highlight: Being Selfish

Now I know some may not agree, but I feel that sometimes I feel amazing when I can be a little selfish! 🙂

When is the last time you did something completely selfish?

When was the last time you went out shopping with the intention of buying something for you (no matter how small the purchase)?

When is the last time you had some uninterrupted time to sit around and tell people you just didn’t want to be bothered with their foolishness?

I know it sounds a little selfish and mean….well it’s supposed to; because we all need to have a selfish moment sometimes!

Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in being giving and willing to be there for the ones we love that we forget to spoil the most important person; yourself!  How can you be the person you need to be for your family, your spouse, your child; if you’re not giving yourself some much needed self-care and attention??

This week, go spoil yourself, please! Be selfish. Tell someone no. Go buy yourself something nice.  Go turn your phone off and take a nap.  Go on a road trip. Do something completely selfish and don’t feel guilty about it because you deserve it!

#50Days50Questions: Dreams and Goals

What are my goals and dreams?

  • Run my own publishing company
  • Become a full time writer
  • Be featured in a magazine or on another blog
  • Continue to publish

I don’t share my dreams often, because sometimes they feel too outlandish to be accomplished.  Also, right now, I’m in a position where a young thug has bills to pay and a small mouth to feed, so throwing caution to the wind and just going out on a limb and following my creative passion is not the most logical plan.  I wonder sometimes the main issue will always be “how will I ever get the money to ever fund any of these dreams and have them come true?”

Anyway, I’m rambling and need to get back on subject.  Let’s talk about the concept of dreams and goals.  The reality of it is, we all have them.  I don’t think anyone goes through life without having goals for their life.  I also believe no one goes through life without having a dream that they want to see come to fruition either for themselves or for someone they love.  In my opinion, it is a common way of life.  The idea is having the drive and determination to make these dreams a reality, and put a plan in place to complete the goals you set out for yourself.

I’ll always have big dreams and goals in my life, I don’t think that’s something that will ever waver about me.  Dreams and goals are things that build a person and make them unique; Andretti both something I’ll always hold close to my heart.

Self-Care Sunday Highlight: Free for All!

Today I didn’t have a specific highlight for Self-Care Sunday, but I wanted to reflect on how hectic my week has been and how important self-care will be for me today.

I’ve had stress, tension and all kinds of emotions coming at me from every direction this week, and it’s caused me to neglect some of my favorite self-care techniques!  I feel so bad because I haven’t taken a single moment for myself and every time I say I will, I end up doing something else for someone else, or doing something for work the just gets me all wound up again.

So, tonight, I’m going to make SURE I get my work done in a decent time frame, get the kid settled down and then take some much needed and much anticipated me time this evening.

This week, even though I’m not highlighting anything specific, I encourage you to look back on some of the highlights of self-care, pick one and apply it to life this week.  Don’t let life’s stressors overwhelm you and take you out of your routine and peace!

#50Days50Questions: Blessed

Do I feel blessed? How and why or why not?

Definitely.

This question seems so simple, yet I know it can be a difficult thing to keep in perspective at times.  Even on the days when I seem to feel like nothing is going my way, I try to remember why I’ve been blessed to have everything I have up to this point.

As humans, we tend to complain about the things we do not have, but forget about how much we’ve been blessed with otherwise.  I am guilty of not always counting my blessings;  there have been times when my thoughts have been very narrow-minded and selfish.  Whenever I’m not in the right space, I try to thing of at least five things I’m blessed to have in life right at that moment, and it helps to keep my mindset in perspective.

“It seems like blessings keep falling in my lap.”

The Christmas Tag!!!

“Chestnuts roasting, on an open fire……” 🙂

So, today I’m feeling real holly and jolly today (possibly because of the Christmas  party we are having at work today).  As an extension of my holiday cheer, I am going to do the Christmas tag for you all!  I will have the questions down at the bottom of the post for anyone else who wants to do this!!  So, lets get it!!

  1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

My favorite Christmas movie…?  Actually, Nothing Like the Holidays is my favorite Christmas movie.   I don’t know how I stumbled upon  this movie a couple years ago, but ever since,  I HAVE to watch it at least 3 times during the Christmas holidays!  My favorite line?

“I’M NOT GONNA RUN THE BODEGA!”

LOL.

  1. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning!  And I am definitely someone who will be up at the crack of dawn (even before my own toddler), ready to open gifts.  Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays, and now that I am a mother.  I am enjoying more of watching my daughter and nephew open their gifts and see the joy on their faces for the holiday.

  1. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

There is a video of my daughter and my nephew’s first Christmas, where they were wearing matching onesies.  My nephew was playing drums, and my daughter was dancing.  It was classic Kynn and Preston, and I loved it.  I think that is the year we knew they completely enjoyed their Christmas.

  1. Favourite festive food?

I LOVE turkey and dressing, with cranberry sauce and giblet gravy.  That is my all time favorite combination at holiday time.  That and apple pie for dessert.  And let’s not forget the wine 🙂 ….

  1. Favourite Christmas gift?

I don’t know if I have a favorite Christmas gift.  What I enjoy the most is when someone gets me something that they KNOW I will love; or if they take the time to get me something that I specifically asked for or casually mentioned in passing conversation.  Thoughtful gifts  are the way to my heart.

  1. Favourite Christmas scent?

Ehh, I don’t have a specific scent, but I know when I start to smell cinammon, apple or vanilla type scents,  I am knee deep into the holiday season!

  1. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

No Christmas Eve traditions, although I would like to develop one for my daughter.  I know she will want to make cookies for Santa and write a note.  I also may let her open one gift the night before. 🙂

  1. What tops your tree?

Right now, a star.  I want to get a really pretty angel like my grandmother has on the top of her tree.  It’s gorgeous!

  1. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I’d have to say I was pretty blessed.  I can’t think of anything I asked for that I never got for Christmas or at one point in my life. I also have gotten older and don’t ask for much; Im in a season in my life where I’d rather give than receive.

  1. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Spending time with my family and friends. Period.  I have always loved Christmas because I knew that  was the one holiday of the year that everyone will come together for a day and be joyful and laugh and have fun.  As everyone has grown, we have  all made our own new traditions, but one thing that I will never  give up is  having the ones I love the most with me on Christmas.
