I’ve decided to start photographing and documenting my journey to becoming a wine aficionado. I figured since I’m almost 30, I need to expand my horizon on the win tip. So, I’m going to commit to trying out a new wine every Friday night, and giving y’all the real deal on it.
To start the first Friday of the new year, I picked up this bottle of 2014 California Cabernet Sauvignon called Dominant Seven.
I will admit that labels are a big factor in how I choose wine. If the label looks lame, it might be a lame wine (I know it’s petty, but I’m working on it). Anywho, I read the back label, which mentioned a “rich and robust” taste, with “deep black cherry and berry flavors with notes of mocha”…Mocha?! Yes, mocha
So, I popped the cork on this beauty, and I must say, I liked it! It’s definitely not as bold and strong as most Cabernets I drink, but I did enjoy it! This particular wine had a very good balance and was just enough to feel pretty good on a low key Friday night. It was very smooth and flavorful, which is a big plus for me. Plus, I could taste the mocha peaking in like “heeeeeey” lol.
Overall, if you’re a red wine fan and like Cabernet, or if you’re wanting to get into red wines and want something that’s not going to put you all the way on your butt the first time, you may want to give this one a try, because it’s definitely a good tasting wine.
