Day ……. whatever the hell in quarantine.
First, let me sing praises to ANY AND ALL essential workers during this time. I know many people in this pandemic that have to work tirelessly to ensure health and safety of others. I do not attempt to compare or bring down any job; however, I also do not like to see people downplay or minimize the jobs of others. It bothers me when I see people diminish someone else’s struggle or try to compare. I don’t compare anyone’s circumstance to mine, nor do I try to make mine sound more important than anyone else’s. Truth be told, everyone’s situation is important. Everyone has a story to tell, everyone is affected in some way. The best thing we can all do is continue to stay sane, safe, and uplifted the best way we can.
I work in social work. I’m a supervisor in fact. I have a team of workers who come to work everyday, knowing the risks and the challenges to working during this time. We have circumstances where we walk into homes or communities, and have no idea if they’ve been exposed. Most times, even those families are unaware if they’ve been exposed. Due to the minimal ways to be tested, some of them do not have the means or ability (transpiration, access, etc) to even be tested. We just never know what situation will come to us, and how we will have to respond.
We have PPE, but is it enough? I honestly go to work daily wondering “am I safe?” It’s definitely a risk, but I have an important job; a job that requires I endure children are safe 24/7/365 pandemic or not.
I say this from the bottom of my heart: God bless any and all essential workers that are working amongst the pandemic. It’s not easy, but it has to be done.
Continue to stay safe 🖤…
